Dear members and future members,
Your union invites you to Downtown Boston for hors d'oeurvres, beer, drinks, and a raffle full of fabulous bike prizes. We'll briefly share with you the work you've made possible so far and the goals we all share for the future of our city. For the rest of the night the amazing DJ Jesse Kaminsky of the WMBR radio show "The Intercontinental" will spin music from around the world, and our board, staff and volunteers will clink glasses with you, crack jokes, and maybe even bust a move.
Thursday, August 25, 2011
7pm-9pm
26 West Street, Boston 02111
This is a party more than a business meeting, but we'll also take a few minutes to elect a slate of enthusiastic board candidates recommended by the Union's board search committee after sifting through 50 candidates. Before the meeting you will receive short bios for all 17 potential members in your email inbox and with luck all of them will be on hand for the event.
We encourage everyone to come to this event, which is free for all members in good standing, but you must be a member to gain entrance. Of course you probably want to do this anyway to support all the amazing work that's going on, so we'll make it easy for you. You can join
online right now, at the door for $25 (or at a discounted rate if you area a student, senior or have a low-income), or you can barter five hours of your volunteer time for a membership sometime in the next 30 days. To volunteer or report your hours so far, contact
pete@bostoncyclistsunion.org.
This event is the perfect time to encourage your friends and family to join the ranks; approach those who share your vision for a bicycle friendly Boston, and ask them to be a part of the movement that will make it a reality.
If you plan to attend, please RSVP online at
http://bostoncylistsunion.eventbrite.com/ so we can make sure there is a cold beer or drink waiting for you!
We look forward to toasting with you the success you made possible!
Sincerely,
Pete Stidman
