What's your opinion?

Please comment on plans for bicycle infrastructure on Washington Street! Option 1 is on-street bike lanes, Option 2 is off-street bike paths.

Fall Foliage Weekend in Gettysburg, PA

Hi All. I was involved in a bike accident 4 weeks ago. My recovery time is long and I likely will be having cervical spinal fusion surgery sometime within the next month or so. Until I am sufficiently healed (for the foreseeable future) I am banished from my bike.

I purchased this weekend for 2 with the Bicycle Club of Philadelphia (BCP):…

JP Open Studios Bike Tour(s)

There's an official bike tour of the JP Open Studios this year:

http://www.jpopenstudios.com/modules/smartsection/item.php?itemid=103

. . . but it's on Saturday. I work on Saturday. Also, I don't have a iPhone so I couldn't download the iPhone app they're talking about.

Would anyone be interested in meeting up on Sunday to do this or a similar group bike…

How about a group HubWay ride?

We've been kicking around an idea to rent HubWay bikes downtown and do some sightseeing, eating, drinking, and generally figuring out how to use this new resource to the fullest. Please comment here on ideas of where we could go and what we could do.

Update on Forest Hills/Casey Overpass redesign

I'm well overdue on an update on the progress of the Casey replacement project. Hopefully, this update will get you up to speed and motivate you to get involved since we're at the point where public input will start to sway and shape the opinions of those that will ultimately decide what happens here.

I was chosen to be on the Working Advisory Group (WAG) for this project back in April, representing the Boston Cyclists Union, JP Bikes, and other nearby neighborhood cycling groups.… Continue

Scofflaws and Enforcement

This morning I saw a cyclist riding erratically, blasting through red lights and endangering herself and others. When I caught up with her and attempted to talk with her about this behavior, she removed her ear buds long enough to hear me, then put them back in and, without replying (how could she defend her position?) glared at me and rode off.
What can we, as law-abiding cyclists do when faced with a situation like this?

Sundae Roll this weekend

This Sunday, 8pm, at the Monument (the intersection of Centre and South streets), meet your fellow bikin' and cyclin' neighbors for a weekly evening cruise around JP, taking advantage of the cool temps and quiet streets! Bring your mountain, commuter, cargo, tandem, tall, short, chopper, mixte, fixie, road, or cross bike. We don't care, as long as it's in good repair and you've got a front and rear light; slap a bell on for extra credit and fun. You can find lights and bells at Bikes Not…

Ride this weekend?

We're due for some rides! I've been busy with a new job and some of our other organizers have been busy with a new baby, but if some of you guys can help out, we can still do some of these rides. Normally we'd do one in June, and it looks like this Sunday has some great weather for a change. I'm thinking the bike train up to Rockport might be a nice option. If anyone is interested in heading up that way, then please let me know by responding to this blog post or using our contact page in the… Continue
